Dr. Catherine C. Acotto, PhD, CCC-SLP
Twenty-five years. Over 50,000 clinical hours. A master's in Communication Sciences and Disorders with an emphasis in Autism, and a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Arizona State University.
Her 2014 ASU dissertation documented a 64–81% reduction in self-injurious and aggressive behavior across Walmart, grocery store, and classroom settings — sustained at eight-month follow-up. That research is the proof-of-concept for what becomes possible when communication access increases.
She still carries a full caseload at San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools. She is not teaching from memory. She is teaching from last Tuesday.
